Mount Kaputar National Park Day Ride

Our Wedding Anniversary Day Ride – June 1, 2013

We actually were supposed to have been on a Rohde Trip this weekend for our wedding anniversary, however circumstances were such that we had to put it off for a few weeks so instead we decided to celebrate our special day with another day ride. This time, to the beautiful Mount Kaputar National Park.

It was not the best of days for a ride, in fact, it was rather dismal to say the least and rain was forecast but we decided to take our chances and make the journey along the Kamilaroi Highway to Narrabri. The ride itself was rather enjoyable and not at all cold and even though the area continues to remain dry due to lack of range, the landscape surrounding the Kamilaroi Highway is rather special.

As we didn’t leave until very late in the morning, we decided that we would go to Sawn Rocks which is one of the attractions in the National Park and approximately 35km’s out of Narrabri. To say it was worth it is an understatement.

Sawn Rocks was just as impressive as it appeared in the tourist brochure that we picked up at Narrabri along the way and we are so glad we risked the weather and were able to view this gorgeous rock formation for ourselves. Giggles photos’, as per usual, do not do it any justice. The walking track to Sawn Rocks was very easy, a mere 750m through our beautiful Australian bush, and the scenery was stunning.

We would definitely recommend Sawn Rocks, or indeed, Mount Kaputar National Park to anyone who has in an interest in our phenomenal ancient landscape and history.
